Second-harmonic-assisted four-wave mixing in chip-based microresonator frequency comb generation
Simultaneous Kerr comb formation and second-harmonic generation with on-chip microresonators can greatly facilitate comb self-referencing for optical clocks and frequency metrology. Moreover, the presence of both secondand third-order nonlinearities results in complex cavity dynamics that is of high scientific interest but is still far from being well-understood. Here, we demonstrate that the i...

We have theoretically and experimentally investigated the dynamics of frequency comb generation insilicon-based microresonators. In this system, the parametric gain associated with the nonlinear process offour-wave mixing leads to parametric oscillation and generation of signal/idler sidemodes. This report describes our results that further develop the parametric comb technology. We ...
متن کاملStrong polarization mode coupling in microresonators.
We observe strong modal coupling between the TE00 and TM00 modes in Si3N4 ring resonators revealed by avoided crossings of the corresponding resonances. Such couplings result in significant shifts of the resonance frequencies over a wide range around the crossing points. This leads to an effective dispersion that is one order of magnitude larger than the intrinsic dispersion and creates broad w...
متن کاملPhase steps and resonator detuning measurements in microresonator frequency combs.
Experiments and theoretical modelling yielded significant progress toward understanding of Kerr-effect induced optical frequency comb generation in microresonators. However, the simultaneous Kerr-mediated interaction of hundreds or thousands of optical comb frequencies with the same number of resonator modes leads to complicated nonlinear dynamics that are far from fully understood. An importan...
